President’s Newsletter

February 2016

We are in the quiet season of winter. The forest undergoes a process of renewal, as it seems to go to sleep. Storms hasten the destruction of old growth before the rebirth of the forest in spring.

Last month’s snowfall of 16 inches was more akin to a Northern snow storm than our usual dusting or accumulation of several inches. Please send photos you may have to Everett Bedenbaugh for posting on our website.

Roads

Our contractor for snow plowing was taxed by the heavy snowfall and challenges of clearing mountain roads. The roads were passable and cleared within several days after the storm. Please use prudence and caution in driving after a snowfall and avoid using the roads until it is safe to do so.

Please note that property owners are responsible for clearing their own driveway. Should you want to hire our contractor to do so, his contact information is set forth below:

Dam and Lake Update

We have not received any further information from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources concerning our revisions to our plan for repairs to the Dam.

Water System

Please remember to shut off your water if you leave your residence for vacation during the winter months. This will help prevent floods to your home and damage to the pipes during freezing weather.

Assessments

Please note that assessments are due by March 1, 2016. If you have not received an invoice by email or snail mail, please contact Jeannette Lee immediately (phone is 941 350 7390). Unpaid assessments after March 1 are subject to interest and handling charges.

I look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors as the weather improves in March.
