Happy Spring, Indian Lake Estates,

Welcome back all of our Seasonal residents.  Our neighborhood is thriving with lots being sold and new homes under construction.  Our little paradise is being discovered.  Fiber optic internet service has been completed and most of our homeowners that want this service have by now been connected.

We would like to welcome new owners at 130 Cherokee Circle, Wanda and Glenn Misinco and Jay and Renee Kicklighter are now living here full time at 23 Qualla Trace.

As we come out of winter hibernation, so are the bears.  Remember to bring bird feeders in at night and all trash receptacles should be bear proof containers.  We do enjoy our wildlife and normally coexist with no problems.

We hope that all will take advantage of our beautiful lake and picnic area.  The picnic tables will be cleaned and new mulch put down in the eating area.

This is the time of year that our Nominating Committee will be contacting residents to run for a position on the Board.  If you have an interest in serving on any of our committees, please contact any Board Member.  The management of our neighborhood is done by the Board and we encourage input from all of our residents who would like to make a commitment to serve on the Board and various committees.

Should anyone need assistance on HOA assessments that may be due, please contact our Treasurer, Jeannette Lee to make arrangements.  Indian Lake Club is willing to work with anyone that may need special assistance with assessments that may be due.

We are planning community work days for May 6 and May 13 at 10:00 a.m.  On May 6, we will work at the entrance and need volunteers to help with clearing weeds and replacing dead plants.  On May 13, Picnic tables will be pressure washed and McNeely Landscaping will be putting fresh mulch down when we complete the tables.

We hope all of our residents will become involved this year in helping with the upkeep of our neighborhood.  If you see an area that needs attention, please let us know and offer to volunteer to help keep our neighborhood looking great.

We would like to remind everyone that we have a neighborhood “Book Nook” located in the parking area of Rainbow Lake which has been graciously donated by one of our residents.  We would like to also express thanks to Bruce Vanderheide for our new lights at the entrance to Indian Lake Estates.  Bruce not only paid for these but also took the time to do a professional installation.

Kathy Peerson is head of our Social Committee and is planning some fun trips for residents.  We are going to try to schedule a couple of these each month.  We will also start our Wednesday night social gatherings after Memorial Day. Our Memorial Day picnic will be held on Sunday May 28, and the first Wednesday gathering will be May 31.   We hope everyone will participate and remember to bring your own drinks and a dish to share.
