Wednesdays on the Waterfront

The overall health of the community is very good. We are working on improving our infrastructure and increased real estate activity is a positive sign.

Neighborhood Security

Residents should be well aware that several homes have been broken into during the past few months. We had a community meeting with Deputy Sheriff Chad Owen on April 18 to discuss how to improve security in our neighborhood. Please note that the minutes are posted on our website at Members Only/Meeting Minutes/18 April 2015, Community Meeting. As delineated in the minutes, we should report any suspicious activity to the police. Please keep your eyes and ears open. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or John McClung, who is in charge of our Neighborhood Watch.

We have ordered an additional Neighborhood Watch sign to be posted at the entrance, and are evaluating additional security measures. I urge each and every resident to take preventive measures to secure your home.

Welcome to the Community

Brian and Jan Gorman are building a home on Hiwassee Road next to the Waterfront Park and hope to have it completed by October. Please welcome the Gormans to the community as full time residents.

Home Improvements

We take pride in our homes and community. Home improvements and maintenance reflect our values. Please notify the Architectural Control Committee Chairperson, Aleta Tisdale, of any plans to make improvements and changes (such as painting or replacing your roof) with regard to your house, deck, yard or lot. You may not be required to file plans under the Regulations, but we will be pleased to advise you if it is required, and good communication is certainly appreciated by your neighbors.

Roads

Repaving has been contracted for the following areas:

Upper Hiwassee Road (above Five Points)

Rainbow’s End

Indian Lake Road below Mohawk Lane  250ft.

We expect that the paving will begin in late June by Pisgah Asphalt Company.

Dam Repairs

NCDNR has several questions about our proposed Dam Repairs, and we are working with our Engineering contractor to respond fully so we can gain approval for the plan and commence repairs. We hope to proceed with the repairs soon.

Waterfront Wednesdays

With warm weather here, residents are invited to join the weekly gathering on Wednesday at 5:00pm at the Waterfront Park. Bring a dish to share and a beverage of your choice. Weather permitting, of course.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
