Spring is here, flowers and trees are blooming and our summer residents are starting to return.
Through the last few months your Board has been working to accomplish many of our long-term plans for the community. Dam work has been going on for the last couple of months and is almost complete for 2025. Additional work may be required in 2026 but we do not anticipate having to empty the lake.  We anticipate filling the lake before the end of May. Restocking the lake with fish should be done sometime during the summer.
Our park dock has been replaced using TREX boards and should last much longer. Additionally, stairs into the lake have replaced the ladder that was previously there allowing for easier access for parents and kids into and out of the water. Special thanks to Jay Kicklighter and Pete Peerson for taking on this project.
Our beaver situation has been taken care of and I would like to thank Don Williams, Hale Campbell and Dean Argentine for their assistance in keeping the gate open that allows water to flow from Rainbow
Lake into Indian Lake.
TREES: In the last few years, we have had two hurricanes and often have high winds. There are many dead trees on members lots, especially those that can fall and block our roads for members and emergency access. We live in a forest and it is part of maintaining your property. Please take the time to survey your lots for dead trees, especially those that can fall and impact our roads. If you are nothere to look for yourself, please give me a call at 941-350-7390 and I will assist in surveying your lot for dead trees. You can call Boyd McNeely at 828-553-1135 or Villafranca Tree Service at 828-384-4845 for assistance in dropping/removing trees at your expense. Many residents have used both of these companies with satisfactory results. In the event a dead tree falls on community property, we will have it removed at the members expense by way of a charge back. This is necessary to keep our assessments from being increased for all.
Assessments: June is fast approaching and members that own multiple lots may have an
assessment due. Funds can be mailed to our address of record, made payable to ILE at P O Box
371 Lake Toxaway NC 28747.
Paving: we anticipate paving being done in our community this summer. If you have paving needs for work or quotes, please let me know. I will be meeting with the paving company soon and they are happy to assist you with your needs. Please let me know if you need help in your absence.
New Board Members: We have the availability of having a new Board Member on our team,
additionally, we have two Board Member up for re-election at our September annual meeting: Barbara Pence who has been our secretary for more than 15 years, and Hedgie Bartol who is the Chair of Archetectural Control. If you would like to become a Board Member and work with other members of our community, please send a bio of yourself to Ann Taggart at [email protected] Chair of the vetting process before July 15.
Generators: our generators are in and running when power goes out. They run on propane and will provide our water. Again, much thanks to Ron Harden who used his contact, time and expertise in seeing this project through.

We look forward to a great summer and look forward to seeing you at our Wednesday evening function that will be starting soon.
Regards,
Jeannette Lee
