As was reported at the Annual Membership Meeting, the 2011/2012 fiscal year brought progress to the community. More roads were paved, the common assets of the community were maintained while the financial performance was better than the Budget had predicted. In other words, last year was a rewarding year for our community.

This year is starting with big challenges. The most daunting one will be the State mandated repairs to the Indian Lake spillway. Our engineer has submitted plans to the State which has approved them. The Lakes/Dams committee is in the process of gathering bids for the work. Not all bids have been returned, but based on the ones returned the cost of the project will greatly exceed the cost that the engineer had predicted – surprise, surprise! There is a real possibility that cost will exceed the funds that the Club has available in this year’s budget
and the reserve fund. This item will be of prime concern to the Board. You will be kept informed on the physical and financial progress. If any of you have creative ideas for meeting the shortfall, share them with the Board. The Board will do all it can to prevent the need for a special assessment. All nonessential spending is being curtailed. Unfortunately this means that only emergency road paving may occur in 2013.

Speaking of finances, invoices for 2013 assessments have been sent to members. Please remit your payments as early as possible. If you have any questions about the invoice or payment plans, contact Susan Sciullo at
[email protected].

On a more upbeat note, the annual Holiday Party will be held at the Markerts’ home on December 8 from 5 to 7 PM. Beside a time to share the holiday spirit with neighbors we are using the occasion to brighten the holiday for some less fortunate children. Please bring a wrapped gift for a boy or girl. Indicate if it is for a girl or boy and the appropriate age. The gifts will be distributed to deserving children by the Sharing House.

In closing, Joyce and I wish you and your family a Joyous and Happy Holiday Season and a prosperous New Year.
