Weather
This winter started early and COLD. We also had a large snow in early December which resulted in the power being out for over 24 hours. The New Year was brought in with an ice storm but since then we have returned to our normal winter snows and temperatures… (both being moderate).
Neighborhood Security
As many of our residents are seasonal it is up to our year-round residents to please keep an eye on those homes and report any suspicious activity to the sheriff’s office (911) and then to our Neighborhood Watch, John McClung @ (352) 232-3411. We all benefit when we watch out for each other.
Good Neighbors
Many of us enjoy walking the roads during the Winter and Spring seasons so please watch your speed in the community. Part of being a good neighbor is respecting the covenants and regulations of the community. If you are planning any major work, we would appreciate you running those changes by the Architectural Control Committee.
Dam Repairs
We are still awaiting word from the State. We have nothing new to report at this time.
Water System
One of our electric heaters went out in the well house on Toxaway Trail which resulted in a frozen pipe. Although repair costs were minimal they could have been very expensive. We have now installed thermostatically controlled propane heaters in both well houses so this should never happen again.
Real Estate
In January, the house at 280 Cherokee Circle was purchased by Bill and Charlotte Newman from Cecil, AL. They will be back in March to get the home ready for the summer season. We look forward to welcoming them into our community.
Fire Department.
Our Lake Toxaway Volunteer Fire Department has been upgraded from a Class 7 to a Class 5. Contact your homeowner’s insurance company and you should get a rate reduction.
Canoe Racks
Please see the article on the HOME page regarding the new procedures for the canoe racks.
